Thrift Store Explorations

I live in a small, rural town and hence, we didn't have a thrift store until recently. I got on my newly fixed bike today and went on an inspiration mission. I visited the library (and was chastised by the library staff for my overdue fines) and picked up some new crafting books. After that, I headed over to the thrift store, where I picked up two (free!) toys for our niece, a jumper to felt and three pieces of material. All in all, $5.50 well spent.

The goodies are in the washing machine now, restoring themselves to dust-free fragrances.

Some projects in the making...

This is a bookmark made of felt for my MIL, in her birthday present, "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. I read it last year and thought it would suit my new age/hippie/witchy mother in law.

Here is my first attempt at Wee Wonderful's Pointy Kitty pattern. She's a bit lopsided. I had a bit of an issue sewing the head onto the body.

I'm starting a quilt for our baby niece, Jacinta. I've never made a quilt before, and I've started it without a pattern. I'm still pretty zen about the mistakes I've made; we'll see how long that lasts.

Welcome to The Crafty Cupboard

Greetings and salutations!

After a few years, I have decided to re-embark into the world of blogging, this time focussing on my craft pursuits instead of my personal life.

I'm a beginning crafter interested in the realms of quilting, softies, knitting and beading. There's lots of different projects going on in readiness for xmas. There will be pictures soon!

Thanks for visiting.
